A late congratulations to Novak Djokovic for winning his second grand slam at the Australian Open last Sunday. But God damn, he smack and spanked Andy Murray so hard, the final was BORING as HELL! Murray didn’t even take a set for himself. Yeah, it was borderline embarrassing. Don’t get me wrong. I give Djokovic all the credit in the world for winning the Davis Cup last year for Serbia and the Australian Open this year, but I really wanted Nadal and Federer in the final. I think all tennis fans and their moms would have wanted to see that. As much as I want to see Murray win his first grand slam, I’d rather see exciting tennis points than a crushing and disappointing defeat.
I post this video up because no other player can compare to these two. Even though Federer is getting older, him and Nadal will remain within the top 3 players for years to come. Of the last 25 grand slams, together they’ve won 21 of them. The greatest rivalry in tennis of ALL time, IMO. Nadal is still struggling a little bit with injury as he left in the AO quarterfinals for the second straight year with tears in his eyes. But he still has a looong way to go towards higher greatness. I predict Nadal winning the French Open for sure.. with at least SF finishes for Wimbledon and the US Open. But the year just started, so we just have to wait and see. On the side note, Roddick has been one of the top 8 players for the past 7-8 years, but hasn’t won another grand slam since the US Open in 2003. As much as I see Federer winning Wimbledon, I want Roddick to have a least some glory before he gets too old to produce his trademark blazing serves. I also want Del Potro to win the US open again, but his injury is still preventing him from advancing far in ANY tournament..
Okay, I’m rambling.. Watch the vid and enjoy the charisma! Together they raised a little over $4 million for their charities last year. Talent + Philanthropy = tennis rated as the most positive sport in the world.
